Third Grade's Oil Pastel Pumpkins

Third graders drew realistic looking pumpkins by looking at a real pumpkin and paying close attention to the highlights and shading on it. They used yellow for the lighter areas and blended it down into the orange to create yellow-orange areas of the pumpkin. Then they finished by blending orange with brown to create the look of the darker, shaded parts. After the pumpkin was complete, they created grass or vines underneath the pumpkin by using light and dark green. I'm very proud of them for the job they did on these!

Dynamic project, and sophisticated enough to use with other age groups.
